Being There
Intense listening and just taking in another person’s thoughts and feelings without prejudice is so very hard. We’re always filtering, categorizing their input and preparing our responses. The act of true listening equalizes the relation between speaker and listener. We’re not there to solve but to acknowledge another person’s uniqueness. Providing solutions immediately, relating to your own experiences, disturbs the balance. Listen to a sound before thinking what it’s like that you’ve heard before.
